Relevance of the issue with specified session theme: For the most part, campaigning work is designed for digital medium like social media sites and other websites. These resources are accessed by only a fraction of the population in the developing countries. As a result most of the voice of a nation remains unheard on very vital human rights issues. This session is about how mobile campaigning is an effective tool to garner support of the public on social issues.

Content of the session (Objective of the session): The session is a case study of how participation in campaigns can be encouraged through mobile phones. The objective of the session is the drive home the importance of the mobile phone in getting public support.

What is USP of the session: The session talks of how the use of mobile phones has significantly reduced the digital divide in India and has the ability to deliver information via voice, reducing the need for literacy.

Please describe how you will use your speakers and how their views/ perspectives /expertise will be included in the session: The speaker will talk of her own experience of effectively using mobile campaigning in order to involve participation at the grassroots. The speaker will talk of the tools that can be used to engage with audiences in order to foster their participation in social campaigns. The speaker will make it a participative session sharing her own experiences and encouraging others to share their experiences as well as challenges they may face.

How are you bringing diversity in your proposed session whether it is relevant to the specified theme? The session is about advancing participation and enhancing engagement using mobile phones and is therefore relevant to the theme of digital empowerment and enhanced engagement. the diversity in the session is through active interaction of all participants.
